The iCAN-CH competition is being organised as a Nano-Tera project, a Swiss federal program funding scientific projects. It is coordinated by Prof. J. Brugger (EPFL), Prof. Ch. Hierold (ETHZ) and E. Byrne (Micronarc/FSRM).
The Nano-Tera initiative aims to bring Switzerland to the forefront of a new technological revolution, using engineering and information technology to improve the health and security of humans and the environment in the 21st century. Please see the Nano-Tera web site for more information concerning the programme and other projects.
Micronarc is the dedicated micro-nanotech cluster and communication platform created by the governments of the seven cantons that constitute Western Switzerland. Its primarily role is the development and promotion of the regional scientific, industrial and economic base in the sectors of micro and nanotechnology, as well as its educational structures, R&D facilities, technology transfer and inward investment.
Micronarc is an initiative of the cantons of Bern, Fribourg, Vaud, Neuchâtel, Geneva, Valais et Jura and supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
The EPFL-STI-IMT is an established world-leading institute in micro-nanotechnology innovation. In 2009, with the fusion of the Neuchâtel and Lausanne campuses, the institute grew to include 19 specialised laboratories with over 400 dedicated researchers. Visit the web site to discover more about the activities of each lab!
The Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at the ETHZ educates students for excellence and leadership in science and industry through cutting edge research on an international platform to face the challenges of the Swiss and global society and economy by engineering innovation in its technology fields.
